History of Fidelity Triangle #4
We start the trip to the past with a look at Fidelity Triangle's banner - the same one that was used from the very beginning. If you look closely at it, you can still see where it was stitched with D.O.E.S. It may be tattered and worn, but we are proud that it is the oldest in the state!
April 10, 1926 - The first meeting of the Junior O.E.S Club #4 was held at the home of Lulah Vedder on Arnett Blvd.
May 29, 1926 - 4th meeting of the Junior O.E.S. Club #4. Mrs. Patchin, Jr. Deputy, asked the girls to take part in the "Floral Degree" at the homecoming of M.W. Grand Matron Frances H. Shay.
May 7, 1927 - 16th meeting, M.W. Grand Matron Anna Reed Farmington presents the charter of Fidelity Club #4.
May 31, 1927 - M.W. Frances H. Shay, past Grand Matron, installed the officers of Fidelity Club #4. Germania Chapter OES and Miss Sophie Paul donated a crown and six other chapters donated bibles.
March 26, 1928 - 28th meeting, M.W. Sophie Paul was presented with a certificate of honorary membership.
November 17, 1933 - The first Beloved Queen’s tiny gold gavel was given to the outgoing queen. This was to be attached to the chain of her Triangle pin.
November 26, 1933 - The girls discussed their Christmas Party. Each was to bring a gift of no more than $.25.
October 18-20, 1934 - Girls were in charge of a cosmetic booth at the Masonic Carnival. They held a Ring Toss game.
Spring of 1935 - The girls held their first "Cooked Food Sale." Proceeds: $10.03.
1939 - New Charters were given due to New York State laws.
April 26, 1941 - Ruth Chapter O.E.S. invited the girls to a mother and daughter party.
April 24, 1950 - Fidelity Club #4 initiated the officers of Lilac Club #121. Lilac Club, later Lilac Triangle, closed in 1985.
1961 - Organization of Triangles, Inc. re-organized and the club was renamed Fidelity Triangle #4.
1971 - More than 225 people were in attendance at the Public Installation of Officers. Among them were Astronaut and Navy Commander, Mr. Paul Weitz and Congressman Mr. Frank Horton.
June 1988 - After serving as Junior Deputy for 25 years, Mrs. Helen Paget passes away.
January 14, 1989 - Fidelity Triangle moves from the Downtown Rochester Masonic Temple, where meetings were held in Cathedral Hall from its beginning, to the present location at Fame Temple in Irondequoit.
February 24, 1990 - Beloved Queen, Amy Lynch, opened the 1,000th meeting.
October 1993 - At the Triangle Biannual Convention Fidelity wins two awards. The Attendance Trophy, based on 1992 per capita and the percent of total members attending convention (99%), and first place in the Talent Show, performing the Chipmunks version of "Achy Breaky Heart."
November 1995 - At the following Triangle Biannual Convention, Fidelity wins another award, the Rose E. Scherer Plaque for no increase or decrease in the Triangle’s total membership. Also at this convention, Melissia DuBois, was installed as State Representative for the Organization of Triangles, Inc. Melissia was only the second member of Fidelity Triangle to receive this prestigious honor of representing the organization at outside events.
June 27, 1997 - Fidelity Triangle celebrated their 70th Birthday. The celebration started with a coke-tail party, allowing old members to mingle with current members and also showcasing Triangle memorabilia. Those in attendance also had the opportunity to watch a video titled, "Fidelity Triangle Through the Years." During the meeting, the Triangle Girls performed their signature degree, "Bubble Talk" for guests. Then, the Past Beloved Queens and past members of Fidelity were introduced and asked to speak on their memorable moments. The last degree for the evening, "The Rose Degree," was dedicated to the organization’s founder, Rose E. Scherer.
October 1997 - At the Triangle Biannual Convention, Erika Hansen competes in the Ritual Competition and wins the Beloved Queen’s part for Initiation Ceremony. The winners of the competition conferred the degree upon two new members during sessions. Erika also won the State Director’s Award, honoring outstanding dedication and commitment to the organization. The Triangle won second place for best Solo/Duet in the Talent Show for "Painting a Portrait."
1998 - Sporting the phrase "Revive to Survive," the Triangle returns to some of the traditional activities of years past. This included a term dinner, sponsored by the Chaplain, Jessica Kerr and her family. At the November Public Installation of Officers, three Grand OES Officers were in attendance: Ruth Beard, Grand Electa; Barbara E. Spano, District Deputy Grand Matron; and Jim Coleman, District Deputy Grand Lecturer. The Triangle hopes that this will be one step in a long road to not only old routes, but also striving for the new millennium.
Fall 1999 - At Convention, the Triangle wins third place in the Talent show, performing to "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile" from the movie ANNIE. In the Ritual Competition, Jennifer Jeerings and Erika Hansen compete and win the parts of Jr. Lady and Queen, respectively. Also, in November Fidelity installs its' first NEW queen since 1996. Krystle Alley takes over the helm as the Triangle brings in a new crop of members.
